UNIQLO Canada Returns: Mail Fees, In-Store Exchanges and Receipts

Quick answer: UNIQLO Canada has a standard 30-day return/exchange period, but the starting date and permitted return channel depend on how you paid. For ordinary store purchases, the period runs from the purchase date; for online orders it runs from shipment. Online orders paid online generally need to be mailed back for a refund, while an eligible online purchase can be exchanged in store. The official Canadian return and exchange guide sets out the distinctions.

Why an online order cannot simply be refunded at the cash desk

UNIQLO says online orders paid through online payment methods are returned through its online mail-return system, not refunded in a physical UNIQLO store. Online orders can, subject to conditions, be exchanged in a Canadian store; a Pay-in-Store order instead follows the store-return route. This matters if you are about to travel to a store with an online order expecting a refund to the original card. Check the payment method recorded on the invoice before making the trip.

UNIQLO’s official guide specifies a CAD $9.90 return fee plus applicable taxes per online return package for the standard mail return. It describes same-item size/colour online exchanges as a separate procedure that also has a return-shipping fee. Packaging multiple eligible items from one order in the same authorized parcel can affect the number of return packages; follow the instructions shown for your actual order.

Store purchases: receipt and original condition

Merchandise bought in a UNIQLO Canada store may be returned or exchanged at an eligible Canadian store within the published period. UNIQLO requires the original purchase receipt for store returns; the product should be unused, unwashed and accompanied by tags and relevant accessories. Its store-policy help page states that ordinary store returns without the original receipt are not accepted. A gift receipt is treated differently, generally through store merchandise credit rather than a refund to the gift recipient’s payment card.

Do not assume an online account’s product-list screen replaces the store invoice: the official policy distinguishes between a purchase history list and an accepted receipt or e-receipt. If you opted for an e-receipt and cannot locate it, ask store staff or use the official support options to check how it can be retrieved.

Exchange a wrong size or return it by mail?

Hypothetical example: You ordered a pair of trousers online and want a different size. An in-store exchange may be possible if the trousers are unworn, have their tags and the replacement is available. Crucially, UNIQLO says that after an online purchase has been exchanged in store, the exchanged item cannot subsequently be refunded under that online order; further exchange options are limited by the original shipment-based window. If you want to keep the option of an original-payment refund instead, consult the mail-return terms for the original online item before carrying out an exchange.

For a same-product colour or size exchange by mail, the online exchange instructions set out the application, parcel drop-off and the new exchange order’s payment processing. A general store exchange for a different product and a same-item online exchange are not interchangeable procedures.

Exclusions and help with a difficult return

Altered or hemmed items, used or washed clothing, goods marked final sale and specified innerwear or other excluded merchandise do not qualify for an ordinary return under the published conditions. A defective-product or gift issue is directed to separate help pages; do not use the standard change-of-mind table as a determination of an individual defect claim.

Open your UNIQLO purchase history to locate the order and follow its available return instructions. If the invoice, return method or exchange options are unclear, use the Canadian customer-service links attached to the official return guide, which include live-chat and telephone information. Keep any posted return receipt and the shipping confirmation until the retailer finishes processing the request.
